Technological change on its own is difficult enough to keep up with. But what we're really dealing with is an increasing rate of change, which frames the challenge somewhat differently.

Consider that living organisms don't only adapt to their environment. They also adapt their environment to themselves.

The concept of "variety" will likely come up regularly in these article posts, so I shall here give some background and a short overview of what is meant by it.
